The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) is hosting a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) training course for local officials. This course is for those new to the NFIP and current Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs) that would like a refresher and Continuing Education Credits (CECs).

The course will cover the fundamentals of floodplain management, how to read FEMA digital flood maps, NFIP regulations, permitting, elevation certificates, how NFIP flood insurance works, and the responsibilities of local officials and property owners under the complex NFIP. Presentations and exercises will be used throughout the course to convey the information and confirm knowledge transfer on testable exam topics.

Upon successful completion of this course, the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) will grant 12 Continuing Education Credits towards the Certified Floodplain Managers certification/recertification requirement.

The course is free, in-person, and will be conducted over two days.
